Sindhudurg Fort is one of the main tourist places in Tarkarli. In the literal sense, the name Sindhudurg Fort means, fort built on the ocean floor. The fort was built by the famous Marathi king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, over a period of three years. More than 100 Portuguese architects and thousands of Indian workers had built a fort to defend the Maratha Empire from the attacks of the outsiders or intruders. This historical site is one of the major places to visit in Tarkarli.
Vijaydurg (sometimes written as Viziadurg), the oldest fort on the Sindhudurg coast, was constructed during the regime of Raja Bhoja II of the Shilahar dynasty (construction period 1193-1205) and restructured by Shivaji. Earlier, the fort encompassed an area of 5 acres and was surrounded by sea on all four sides. Over the years the eastern trench was reclaimed and a road constructed thereon. Presently the area of fort is about 17 acres and is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides.

This is a very old cave temple built during the Pandava period. It is believed that this was built in one night and constructed from a monolithic rock. It is located in a beautiful place in Wada village. Watchout for the signboard on the main road once you are in Wada village. A few of the local people in the shops nearby didn't know about this place. Finally one person guided us to this temple, He send a local boy along with us to the cave temple. This is a very quiet place. This one is not to be missed
